The forest is beautifully reclaiming the hillside after the 1977 Radio fire. Within a hundred more years, little will remain to tell of the fire.

A panorama looking north from Tonto National Forest. The firebreak is the only clear sign of human habitation, despite the large cities in this vista. The nearly solid line at the horizon is the Mogollon Rim which is a nearly sheer cliff almost straight across the state.
The all but gone fossilized tracks of dinosaurs who approached a natural oasis several million years past. Paleontologists already mapped and analyzed these tracks before they had eroded to quite this degree. Still a fun site to explore!
Sunset Crater, one of the most recently active volcanoes in the Southwest is thought to have last erupted in 1064 - though the discovery of some ruins buried by the eruption have put that date into question.
